Christy Lorton M.D. FAAD
Dr. Christy Lorton founded Dermatology Associates in 1991. A native of Fairborn, Ohio, Dr. Lorton graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wright State University with a BS in Chemistry in 1979. She attended medical school at The Ohio State College of Medicine Health Professions Scholarship Program, and graduated with Honors in Surgery and Medicine. After an internship at Wright Patterson AFB Medical Center, she served three years in the Air Force as a general medical officer at Zweibrucken AFB in West Germany. Dr. Lorton completed her residency training in Dermatology at the University of Cincinnati (1986-1989), where she served as Chief Resident. She is board certified by the American Academy of Dermatology and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology and the Ohio State Medical Association. Dr. Lorton practices medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology and serves as President of Dermatology Associates, Inc. She has been married to Dr. Michael Lorton since 1980, and they have four children (Jessica, Alex, Holly and Hillary).
Dr. Sarah Stierman M.D. FAAD
Dr. Sarah Stierman joined Dermatology Associates in 2012. A native of Maumee, Ohio, Dr. Stierman graduated magna cum laude from Kent State University Honors College in 2002, where she was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She attended the University of Toledo College of Medicine, graduating in 2007 with a Doctorate in Medicine and a graduate certificate in Pathology. After an intership at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Stierman completed her residency training in Dermatology at Wayne State University (2008-2011), where she served as Chief Resident. She then completed her fellowship in Dermatopathology at the University of Cincinnati (2011-2012). She is board certifed by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology and a fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Stierman practices medical, surgical, and cosmetic Dermatology, as well as Dermatopathology. She has been married to Michael Stierman FNP-C, since 2003 and enjoys working with her husband. They reside in Perrysburg township with their two children.
Beth Zavell M.D. FAAD
Dr. Beth Zavell has been practicing dermatology at Dermatology Associates since 1994. A native of Springfield, Ohio, Dr. Zavell graduated from Bowling Green State University, summa cum laude. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Ohio in 1990. After an internship at MCO, she completed her Dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan (1991-1994), where she served as Chief Resident. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Zavell enjoys practicing medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She is married to Dr. John Zavell, and they have three children.
Meredith Morse M.D. FAAD
Dr. Meredith Morse joined Dermatology Associates in 2020. A native of Perrysburg, Ohio, she graduated magna cum laude from The Ohio State University in 2012. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 2016. She completed an internship at Mount Carmel Hospital In Columbus, Ohio in 2017. Dr. Morse then completed her Dermatology residency training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, where she served as Chief Resident. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Morse enjoys medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology and is currently accepting new patients.
Dana Sachs M.D. FAAD
Dr. Dana Sachs, a board-certified dermatologist and Mohs micrographic surgeon, joined Dermatology Associates in 2022. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she graduated from Duke University and went on to earn her medical degree from Boston University. After an internship at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, she moved to Ann Arbor to train in Dermatology at the University of Michigan (1996-9) where she served as chief resident. Dr. Sachs practiced Dermatology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York for five years before being recruited back to the University of Michigan where she rose to the rank of Professor of Dermatology practicing medical and cosmetic dermatology and held numerous leadership roles at UM. Her research in skin aging therapies has been published and cited in leading dermatology journals and books. After 20 years in practice and with the desire to provide comprehensive dermatologic care to patients, Dr. Sachs completed an ACGME accredited fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the University of Michigan. Dr. Sachs resides with her husband, Chris Conlin, and her son in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Deborah Thaler D.O.
Dr. Deborah H. Thaler is a native of Toledo, Ohio, where she attended Sylvania Schools. She earned her undergraduate degree with honors from Indiana University, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Thaler then attended Ohio University of Osteopathic Medicine. After medical school, she returned to Toledo to complete a family practice residency at St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Thaler is a board certifed family physician, with focus exclusively in Dermatology. Prior to joining Dermatology Associates in September of 2010, Dr. Thaler practiced in Sylvania with the late Dr. Harry Humeniuk. Dr. Thaler is married to Dr. Russell Thaler. They reside in Sylvania with their three children.
Shannon Hammond PA-C
Shannon Hammond has been practicing at Dermatology Associates since 2001. She received her Masters Degree from the Medical College of Ohio after receiving her Bachelors degree in Nutrition Science and Dietetics from Michigan State Univeristy. Shannon is certified by The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. Shannon diagnoses and treat most dermatological conditions and performs minor procedures in the office. When not at the office, Shannon enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She lives in Perrysburg with her husband and three children.
Sherri Whitcomb PA-C
Sherri Whitcomb has been practicing at Dermatology Associates since 2003. She received her Masters Degree in Biology from Eastern Michigan University. Sherri is certified by the National Commission of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the Ohio Association of Physcian Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. Sherri diagnoses and treats many dermatologic conditions and performs minor procedures at both our Perrysburg and Sylvania locations. In her free time, Sherri enjoys travel, endurance sports, and ballroom dancing.
Joanna Ansted PA-C
Joanna Ansted joined Dermatology Associates in January of 2009. She received her Masters Degree from the Medical College of Ohio, after receiving her Bachelor of the Arts Degree from Wells College in New York. Joanna is certifed by the National Commission of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants. Joanna diagnoses and treats most dermatological conditions and performs minor procedures in the office. In her free time, Joanna enjoys travel and spending time her family. She and her husband live in the area with their son.
Maureen McCarthy PA-C
Maureen (Mimi) McCarthy joined our team at Dermatology Associates in 2014. A native of Sylvania, Ohio, she attended Sylvania Northview High School. She then attended Capital University to compete on the Women's soccer and track teams and graduated in 2011. Following that, Mimi received her Masters Degree at the University of Toledo. Mimi is certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants, a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA), and completed the SDPA diplomate fellowship dermatology program. Mimi diagnoses and treats many dermatologic conditions and performs minor procedures at both the Sylvania and Perrysburg locations. Mimi resides in Sylvania with her husband and they enjoy sports and traveling in their free time.
Patrick Anderson PA-C
Patrick Anderson PA-C has been practicing as a PA in Toledo for over 20 years with experience in both dermatology and pediatrics. He is a veteran of the US Army serving as a medic for 4 yrs after high school. He then completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Toledo graduating in 2000 with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Science in Physician Assistant Studies all the while working as a charter captain on Lake Erie during the summer months to pay for his school. When not in the clinic seeing patients you can still find him out on Lake Erie chasing walleye during the Spring and Summer and in the woods hunting deer in the Fall and Winter. A Toledo/Sylvania native he has deep roots in the community here and volunteers locally at the Nature Conservancy as well.
Michael Stierman FNP-C
Michael Stierman joined Dermatology Associates in 2012. A Toledo native, he received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toledo in 2003, followed by his Masters in Science of Nursing in 2007. Michael is nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Prior to joining Dermatology Associates, Michael underwent training in Dermatology from the Faculty at the University of Cincinnati, where he was a staff nurse practitioner. Michael diagnoses and treats most dermatologic conditions, performs minor procedures, as well as a variety of cosmetic laser therapies. Michael has been married to Dr. Sarah Stierman since 2003. They reside in Perrysburg Township with their two children.
Kaleigh Henzler FNP-C
A lifelong resident of the Toledo area, Kaleigh joined Dermatology Associates in 2016. Kaleigh obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Lourdes University. She received her Masters in Science of Nursing from the University of Toledo in 2016. She has undergone extensive training post graduation to specialize in medical and surgical dermatology, as well as cosmetic laser therapies. Kaleigh is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She spends her spare time distance running and crafting. She and her husband, Phil, reside in Perrysburg with their children.
Jean E. Thomas, M.D.
Dr. Jean Thomas joined Dermatology Associates in 2023. A Toledo native, she attained her
undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Toledo and Medical College of Ohio (now
University of Toledo College of Medicine). During this time she was fortunate to be granted a post-
sophomore student fellowship in pathology and fell in love with the specialty. Dr. Thomas completed
her Anatomic and Clinical pathology residency at the University of Toledo (where she served as chief
resident) and at Duke University from 1996-2000. From 2000-2001, she completed her
Dermatopathology fellowship at Duke University. Dr. Thomas has been board certified in Anatomic and
Clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology since 2000, and in Dermatopathology by the
American Boards of Pathology and Dermatology since 2001. Dr. Thomas has enjoyed clinical practice in
pathology and dermatopathology for over 20 years. She and her husband, Stephen, have been married
since 1992, and they enjoy spending time with their two children and extended family.
